About Brenda

Brenda Cheyne (BA, NZAPH) is an experienced and highly respected practitioner in Wellington, New Zealand.

Here are some of her other qualifications and professional achievements.

  • Double BA in Sociology and Women’s Studies at  Victoria University
  • Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy from The Alpha School of Hypnosis
  • Trained and qualified in Essential Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
  • Trained in Core Counselling Skills
  • Second degree Black Belt in Aikido
  • Many years experience in Mental Health nursing/residential care/drop in centre
  • Facilitated groups for 18 months in Wellington Prison 1988
  • Worker for Wellington Rape Crisis 1981 -1986
  • Active member and co- founder of Home Birth group in Christchurch NZ (1976 -1986)
  • Registered Counsellor with ACC 1988/1992

She was born in Invercargill, Southland. Her father came from the Shetland Islands, and her mother was second generation Scottish.

She has raised three children, now grown up, and is a Grandmother. Brenda loves gardening and two of her other great interests are meditation and the martial art of Aikido.
